About Mont Blanc

Origin

Quarried in Brazil and shipped to Melbourne as full slabs. Mont Blanc belongs to the group of Brazilian quartzites that reached the Australian market as alternatives to pale marble, and it has stayed popular because it reads softer than most. Bianco Superiore, also held here, comes from a neighbouring quarry — the same family of stone, with slightly different character.

Colour and character

A white to light grey background moved through with fine grey veining, generally linear and understated rather than dramatic. Tone varies between blocks: some lots are almost uniform and cloud-like, others carry more defined grey banding.

Where it works

Kitchen benchtops and islands, splashbacks, bathroom vanities, and full-height feature walls where a calm background is wanted. Its restraint makes it a common pairing with timber and with strongly figured joinery.

Care

Mont Blanc is a little more open in structure than the very densest quartzites, so sealing is worth doing properly: seal on installation, and have cut edges sealed on site around sinks, tap holes and seams. After that, wipe spills rather than letting them sit, use a pH-neutral cleaner and avoid abrasive pads. Your fabricator will advise on the re-sealing interval for the finish you choose.

Common questions

Is Mont Blanc a quartzite or a marble?

A quartzite. It is a metamorphic rock formed from sandstone, which makes it substantially harder than marble and far less reactive to the acids that etch a marble benchtop — lemon juice, wine and some cleaning products.

How does Mont Blanc compare with Taj Mahal?

Both are pale Brazilian quartzites chosen for a marble-like look. Taj Mahal is the warmer of the two, running cream to gold; Mont Blanc is cooler, running white to grey. The choice is usually settled by the surrounding palette rather than by how the stones perform.

Is Mont Blanc good for a kitchen benchtop?

It is one of the more popular white quartzites for exactly that. It handles daily kitchen use well and resists etching far better than marble. Discuss finish and edge profile with your fabricator, and seal it on installation.

Does Mont Blanc need more sealing than other quartzites?

It is slightly more open in structure than the densest quartzites, so it takes sealer readily and benefits from being sealed thoroughly at installation — cut edges included. That is a fabrication detail rather than a drawback: sealed properly, it behaves as a quartzite should.

Is Mont Blanc in stock in Melbourne?

Yes. 7 lots of Mont Blanc quartzite are in our Dandenong South gallery as at 10 October 2026. Stock on this page is generated from our live warehouse data, so what you see is what is on the racks.

What finishes does Mont Blanc come in?

We currently hold Mont Blanc in honed and polished finishes. Finish availability changes with each shipment — the lots listed above are what is here now.

How big are Mont Blanc slabs?

Slabs run up to roughly 3.5 × 2.0 metres, in 20mm thickness. Natural stone is cut block by block, so dimensions vary between lots — each lot above lists its own.

Can I see Mont Blanc before I buy it?

Yes, and we'd encourage it. Mont Blanc is on display at 37–39 Gaine Road, Dandenong South, open Monday to Friday 7:30am–4:30pm and Saturday 8:45am–2pm. Every lot is photographed individually so you can shortlist online first, then view the slabs in person.
